Image of the week! - Samsung galaxy s wallpapers?

Saturday, April 9th, 2011

Earlier this year I lost my phone and had to get a new one. The phone I chose was the samsung galaxy s (captivate). Now there is a lot I like about the phone and some things I hate, however what I really love is the screen used for the display. It uses o-led (organic light emitting diode) to back light the screen resulting in the most impressive contrast ratio I have ever seen on a phone. I just had to see how black and white illustrations would look on the phone so I created these images. The dimension match for the galaxy s however it may be a bit small or big for other android devices.

Please be aware they may not be completely work safe; that said there is no nudity… Ahem.

Happy New Year!

Life and image of the week~nigel

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Hello! I’m still kicking I’ve just been really busy with life and new job opportunities. To be more specific I’m working for some buddies of mine in New York with regards to 3d, 2d, and anything else in between! It’s great since I’m doing what I love and with people I work well with so I’m very happy right now!

Anyways as it has been a while I feel I should show you what artwork I have done recently. This pic depicts a girl in possibly one of the sexiest things to come out of China; the Chinese dress!

Ladies wearing this or a kimono get my utmost undivided attention very fast;)

Washington

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

A quick update on me, I’ll be heading to Washington for the screening of the fan made film “Mega Man!” The film will be held at the Martin Luther King Memorial Library on the 15th. I think the turn out should be pretty good based on the reception the movie has gained. If anyone lives in that area feel free to stop by then!

Its been a long haul!

Hello everyone, just wanted to mention there’s this tiny flick coming out on the 7th. I don’t know I’ve been told its kinda a big deal…… (You can freely view it on the movie’s website: http://www.megamanfilm.com/)

*update* –The movie will be shown online at www.screwattack.com–

Haha! That’s right folks the Megaman movie is almost about done and shooting for that release date:) The 8th will be the live New York screening so be sure to check it out either online or at the venue. The locations should be outlined on the movies website soon.

Megaman fans unite!!

With this release I should be able to upload some of the shots I worked on for my demo reel! Be sure to look out for those in the future!

I’m still alive.

Don’t have much to say, lately I’ve been too busy to update this site with anything….. I did manage to fix the uploading problem however so to celebrate I have posted some of my facebook illustrations. I use each of these as my profile photo in the previous months.

Yuki was a pointillism experiment I did in ps.

Goku and Vegeta are iconic manga characters created by Akira Toriyama. Here’s interpenetration of them……..Yes they look Asian it was deliberate…… Think of Vegeta as a pissed off yakuza guy and Goku as your typical Asian martial artist…..I’ll probably do 3d versions of them one day.

Actually I do have one update; the mega man movie is almost complete! It has been dated for sometime in May. > http://megaman.ningin.com/

Check the site for more details and a 2 podcast interviews from the director himself Eddie Lebron.

One random tid bit: http://kotaku.com/5489757/chinas-cutest-comic-book-artist/gallery/

kotaku recently posted an article on china cutest comic book artist. I think I’m in love! 8D

Just a random brain fart.

lately its been pretty busy for me since I’ve been working on a couple projects both 3d and 2d wise, so updating the site with really interesting stuff has been barren at best. Well if you’re still with me or even remotely curious about what the creator of this small corner of the internet has been up to, you might want to check out “Megaman Get Equipped.”

http://megaman.ningin.com/

Its a live action movie featuring the blue bomber and all his enemies from the first game. (as well a character from the later games). I’ve been put in charge of doing some of the 3d for the film along with the other vfx guys. A very talented director by the name of Eddie Lebron is heading the film. I find he is very fun to work with and I feel we are like minded with our appreciation for Asian cinema. Heck he even creates his own Asian films! I hope to do that one day myself however more so in the animation department. If you are curious about some of his works, check his personal website: http://www.eddielebron.com/index.html

I personally recommend his short film “loveless” but check out his other films too.

Other than that I have been working on some illustrations for the king of fighters 12 contest that ignitions is holding. The deadline is until the 31st of this month so I am whipping up my own version of Mai and Leona for it. http://www.kingoffighters12.com/

Be sure to check out my submissions! If you ware wondering why, I just want to see my artwork in a game thats all.

Also they have a contest for Oboro Muramasa, a very cool side scroller from the guys that did Princess Crown, Odin sphere etc. Damn pretty stuff, however its a bit depressing since these guys seem to be one of the few developers who still remember games when they were bursting with color, and not trying to simulate the blandness of reality one hdr floating point value at a time…. In any case you can be sure I’ll enter that one too!

Well I hope to show my illustration on the site once the games are released however until that time comes, follow the links for each game so see what I came up with.

Cheers everyone!

Happy holidays and a Happy New Year!!

getting back on track

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

due to the film festival earlier this month, and a recent contest I have been neglecting to update my site with a new image. Frankly I aint got nothing to show right now however I’m not dead so expect to see some good stuff next week. If anyone is living in Toronto be sure to check out the Chinese lantern festival happening until the 12 of October at Ontario place. I missed out last year but was told it was awesome, so I’m gonna check it out this year. Oooooo~ Pretty colors!

Updates on the Site and me

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

I made some small updates to the gallery and added my resume and changed the theme to Fluidityrs 1.0 which was created by Kaushal Sheth. I think its pretty snazzy don’t you? The gallery now has some more freelance work as well as some of my photoshop art.The resume section needs work but at least its something for now. On another note, things have been going along nicely for me, production for each group I am working with is shaping up really nicely. I have also managed to create a logo for my own company. I will register it when things pick up more. I have also finished my fourth day of teaching animation which so far has been a cool experience for me.
This is off topic and might be a little late but, for those of you lucky enough to be living in America and love animation should then stop by the Japan Society to see a history of early Japanese animation. For those of us on a more northern front you might want to check out our very own Japan Foundation, for the o’ so cool “Spirit of Budo” event happening there. Last time I went they had a history of Shojo Manga exhibit which was very informative so don’t be afraid to check back with them often! Well then I’m off!
